The Boulderado Hotel opened with a New Year's Eve Ball in 1908-1909, and was Boulder's first luxury hotel. This five-story hotel located at 2115 13th Street was the brainchild of three prominent men, Fred Moys, Jonas Bergheim and Walter Nichols, who urged all Boulderites to subscribe to a $100,000 fund drive in 1906. Eben Fine, known by some as "Mr. Boulder," gave more than 5,000 speeches around the U.S., showing his slides of Colorado and promoting the region as a tourist's paradise.
